Christmas Crackers, November 2011
The most recent BP Adventure took place in County on 12/13 November with a Christmas theme. Eighteen girls attended, which brings the total guides at Adventures within our county to 34 this year.
Rutland Water, June 2011
Parva House, January 2011
The first Challenge event, since Ruth became BP co-ordinator, took place at Parva House from 10am Saturday 22nd January to 3.30pm Sunday 23rd. Ten girls attended from 7 units across the County. The weekend’s activities included the challenge to buy something for no more than £10 to carry out a make-over. The girls worked in pairs and headed for the charity shops and the fancy dress department in Sleaford. Surprisingly, they returned with change. In addition to the variety of fashion items purchased, including two pairs of shoes, we also found ourselves with a couple of pirates in the party!
The girls completed hand massage, manicures and make-up. Several had their hair done to complete the make-over. In the evening they prepared and served a three course dinner with home-made bread. All was presented at table with linen, candles, flowers and napkins in their newly acquired finery to fulfil the weekend title ‘Best Bib and Tucker’.
Sunday morning brought a leisurely start for some, followed by a walk, some art work and attempts at ‘boulder’ climbing.
We tried hard to provide a relaxed and mature atmosphere for the experience. Feedback provided by the girls was positive. Several said it wasn’t long enough! A couple of suggestions were for something more adventurous, e.g. horse riding or water sports. Watch this space...
Application Procedure for County BP Challenge Events:
Once the Guide has completed a minimum of 7 clauses she may complete the BP Adventure (Residential) application form (BP2) with her choice of adventure. More than one may be selected, with order of preference given.
The Guider must sign the application form. No more than three guides from one unit can attend the same adventure. The application then needs to go to the BP Coordinator at the address on the form.
SEND NO MONEY AT THIS POINT.
The guide will only be notified of her place a few weeks before the adventure as we try to ensure that the maximum number of girls can attend. She will be sent full joining details and forms which need to be returned to the coordinator or Adventure organizer by the agreed deadline with full payment. We will always try to offer each girl their first choice but this is not always possible.
Payment for all events will be the same: £25 including food but not transport to the event which is the responsibility of the girl and her parents.
At the end of the challenge adventure the Guide will be given a certificate of achievement and a cloth badge. The girl must then ensure that she completes any remaining clauses to achieve her BP challenge award.
